The Other Side

Judah Smith

On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” Mark 4:35-41 NKJV

Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes. Mark 5:1 NKJV

Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away. 46 And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray. 47 Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. 48 Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. 49 And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; 50 for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 51 Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. 52 For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened. 53 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. Mark 6:45-53 NKJV

There is always another side in our lives.

It is a relationship, not a concept. Jesus is a Man.

The time between then and when.

Its not only the spiritually elite that can make it through the meantime!

How do you get to the other side?

God is a good God! He wants to do good things!
Know that God has greater things for us even when we know that we are not who we used to be!
Its my job to stay in the boat, to trust God, to not lose hope, so that we can reap in due season.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Galatians 6:9 NKJV

TALK IT OVER

How can you relate to feeling like you’re not who you used to be but you’re not yet who you’re supposed to be? How does living in the “meantime” feel to you?
What boat do you need to stay in right now? What storms are you enduring?
How often do you ask God, “Are we there yet?” What place are you hoping for God to take you? How will you get planted? Spend time this week talking it over with someone who will hold you to your next steps. Find more at www.lifechurch.tv/talkitover.

*.* Planted – 1 *.*

Dino Rizzo

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. 4Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:3-5

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:9-10

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. 6 God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. Psalm 68:5-6

The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; 13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green proclaiming, ‘The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”’ Psalm 92:12-15

5 Results of Being Planted: 1. It builds your beliefs.

2. It gives you a place to belong.

3. It helps you to become all God wants you to be.

4. It teaches us how to behave.

5. Your life will be bigger.

CHAZOWN

EVERYONE ENDS UP SOMEWHERE.
FEW PEOPLE END UP SOMEWHERE ON PURPOSE.
Where there is no vision, the people perish… Proverbs 29:18 KJV vision: chazown: (khaw-zone’) a dream, revelation, or vision.
IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT TO YOU, WHAT WOULD YOU DO FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?
FOUR PHASES OF CHAZOWN

And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. 23 I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. 24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace. Acts 20:22-24

1) SPIRIT’S PROMPTING.

And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem…Acts 20:22a

compelled: deo—compelled, bound, wrapped up with cords.

Spirit: pneuma—Spirit, current of air, breeze of the Spirit.

2) CERTAIN UNCERTAINTY.

I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. Acts 20:22b

I will do today what I can do to enable me to do tomorrow what I can’t do today.
3) PREDICTABLE RESISTANCE.

I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. Acts 20:23

4) UNCOMMON CLARITY.

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus Christ has given me– the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. Acts 20:24

So I sent messengers to them, saying, "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?" Nehemiah 6:3 NKJV

“Disturb us, Lord, when
We are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.”
Sir Francis Drake

TALK IT OVER
If money were no object, what would you do for the rest of your life?
